Nyligen läste jag ut boken The War of Art. Bokens undertitel är ”Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles”.
- The ultimate source of creativity is divine
It is not the writing part that is hard. What’s hard is sitting down to write. What keeps us from sitting down is resistance
- Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the unlived life within us. Between the two stands resistance
- Resistance is the most toxic force on the planet. It makes us less than we are and were born to be
- Many times we need to stare death in the face to be able to overcome resistance
- Resistance cannot be seen but it can be felt
- Resistance arises from within. It is self-generated and self-perpetuated
- Resistance will tell you anything to keep you from doing your work
- The more important a call or action is to our soul’s evolution, the more resistance we will feel toward pursuing it
- Resistance has no strength of its own. We fell it with power by our fear of it. Master that fear and we conquer resistance
- Procrastination is the most common manifestation of resistance
- First the feeling of resistance is unhappiness. We are bored and restless. We can’t get no satisfaction
- If you find yourself criticizing other people, you are probably doing it out of resistance. When we see others beginning to live their authentic selves, it drives us crazy if we have not lived out our own
- If you paralyzed with fear, it is a good sign and that something is important. It shows you what you have to do
- The opposite of love is not hate; it is indifference
- The amateur is a weekend warrior. The professional is there seven days a week. The professional loves it so much that he dedicates his life to it
- The amateur believes he first must overcome his fear. The professional knows that fear never can be overcome. No fearless warrior exist
- An amateur let’s the negative opinion of others impact him, resistance loves this
- The critics hates most that which he would have done himself if he had had the guts
- Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it
- We must do our work for our own sake. Not for fortune, attention or applause by others
